Welcome to the OPAL website!
The study team hope that you find this website a useful tool for information. It is aimed at study participants, staff involved in OPAL and the wider research community.
The overall aim of the OPAL study is to try to define a simple and effective dietary intervention to maintain cognitive function (memory) and retinal function (which is essential for good vision) in later life.
This is the first study of its kind aiming to slow the decline of cognitive and retinal function in older people by increasing daily dietary intake of n-3 long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (oils most commonly found in fish).
